Auditions for DISNEY’S BEAUTY AND THE BEAST

Footlite Musicals is excited to announce open auditions for Disney’s Beauty and the Beast. Auditions will take place at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, August 25, and at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, August 26. Callbacks are scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, August 27.
The auditions will be held at Footlite Musicals in the Hedback Theatre – 1847 N. Alabama St., Indianapolis. You only need to attend one audition date. The production team is seeking a cast of performers that is representative of the Indianapolis community—inclusive of all ethnicities, body types, gender identities, sexual orientations, and abilities.

You will have the opportunity to select your audition date. Twenty-four hours before your selected date, you will be provided with a specific time. Video auditions will be accepted only if you have conflicts during the audition dates.
Please come prepared to sing 16-32 bars from a song that shows off your vocal talent, with sheet music in the appropriate key. An accompanist will be provided. After singing, our choreographer will teach the dance portion of the audition. Additionally, there will be an optional dance workshop to learn the choreography on Saturday, August 17, from 12:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. at Footlite Musicals.
Production dates are November 22, 23, 24, 29, 30 and December 1, 5, 6, 7, 8, 12, 13, 14, 15. No conflicts are allowed after Friday, November 15, since all remaining dates are either dress rehearsals or performances. Additionally, the number of conflicts listed may impact casting decisions due to limited rehearsal time.

Characters:
Belle: (Soprano: E3-F5) A young woman with an independent spirit and a love of reading who exudes natural beauty.
Beast: (Baritone: A2-F4) The cursed Prince and master of the castle.
Maurice: (Baritone: Bb2-Db4) Belle’s slightly addled genius inventor father.
Gaston: (Baritone: A2-E4) A rude, narcissistic hunter who assumes the world belongs to him.
Lefou: (Tenor/Baritone: B2-F#4) Gaston’s fawning friend, not too bright.
Les Filles De La Ville (3): A group of Gaston’s fanatical female followers who energetically pursue him in the hopes of winning his affection. (The “silly girls”)
Lumiere: (Tenor/Baritone: F#2-F#4) A charming French valet who fancies himself a ladies man; becomes a candelabra. This character speaks with a French accent.
Cogsworth: (Baritone: A2-E4) An officious, excitable, English major-domo; becomes a mantle clock. This character speaks with a British accent.
Mrs. Potts: (Alto/Mezzo: F#3-G5) A sweet, kind-hearted head of the kitchen staff and mother to Chip; becomes a teapot. This character speaks with a British accent.
Chip: (child: A3-F5) Mrs. Potts’s hopeful young son; becomes a teacup. Looking to cast stage age 7-11.
Madame De La Grande Bouche: (Soprano: C#4-D5) A grand, larger-than-life opera singer; becomes a wardrobe. This character speaks with a British accent.
Babette: (Mezzo: C4-F5) A flirtatious maid; becomes a feather duster. This character speaks with a French accent.
Monsieur D’arque: (Baritone: D3-A4) Proprietor of the local insane asylum.
Ensemble: Villagers, Wolves, Enchanted Objects, and other featured roles.
